Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") describes what you may and may not do with Lume Voice and everything we provide alongside it, including the macOS app, the iOS and Android apps, and this website (collectively, the "Services"). It forms part of, and is incorporated into, the Lume Voice Terms of Service. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meaning given to them in the Terms.

Lume Voice uses artificial intelligence to turn speech into written text and to format, correct, and translate that text. This policy applies to every input you provide to the Services, every output the Services produce for you, and everything you do with that output. It applies whether you use a free plan or a paid plan.

If you violate this policy, we may suspend or terminate your access to the Services, with or without notice, as described in Section 6 below.

1. Permitted Use

Lume Voice is built for dictation and transcription in your own personal and professional work. Permitted uses include:

• Dictating email, messages, documents, notes, reports, and other written work.
• Dictating code comments, commit messages, documentation, and prompts for other software.
• Transcribing your own speech, or speech in recordings you own or otherwise have the lawful right to process.
• Translating your own dictation between the languages the Services support.
• Using the Services as an accessibility aid, including where typing is painful, difficult, or impossible.
• Using the Services within an organization, by Authorized Users, for that organization's ordinary business purposes.

In every case, you are responsible for having the legal right to submit the audio you submit, and for obtaining any consent that the law where you and the speakers are located requires before recording or transcribing another person.

2. Prohibited Content

You may not use the Services to generate, transcribe, process, store, request, or distribute content that is illegal, obscene, sexually explicit, harmful, or otherwise prohibited under this policy.

This prohibition covers, without limitation, content that:

• Sexually exploits or abuses a minor, or depicts a minor in a sexualized manner, in any form. We have zero tolerance for this. Accounts are terminated immediately and we report to the relevant authorities.
• Is pornographic, sexually explicit, or otherwise NSFW, including sexual content produced or shared without the depicted person's consent, and including intimate imagery or audio of a person who has not consented to it.
• Sexualizes, degrades, or objectifies a person without their consent.
• Threatens, incites, glorifies, or provides instructions for violence, terrorism, or violent extremism.
• Harasses, bullies, stalks, intimidates, or targets a person or group with abuse.
• Constitutes hate speech or promotes discrimination, denigration, or exclusion on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, or any other protected characteristic.
• Promotes, encourages, or gives instructions for suicide, self-harm, or disordered eating.
• Facilitates the sale or trafficking of illegal drugs, weapons, counterfeit goods, endangered wildlife, or human beings.
• Contains malware, ransomware, exploit code, or instructions intended to gain unauthorized access to systems or data.
• Is fraudulent or deceptive, including scams, phishing, forged documents or records, false claims of identity, and content designed to mislead people about who is speaking or who produced it.
• Discloses another person's private or identifying information without their consent, including doxxing.
• Infringes any copyright, trademark, trade secret, patent, privacy right, or publicity right.
• Is otherwise unlawful in the jurisdiction where you or the affected person is located.

3. Prohibited Conduct

Independently of the content involved, you may not:

• Record or transcribe another person where the law requires their consent and you have not obtained it.
• Use the Services for surveillance of individuals, or to monitor employees or others in a manner that is unlawful where they are located.
• Impersonate another person or organization, or misrepresent your affiliation with one.
• Present output generated by the Services as a genuine recording, statement, or endorsement of a real person who did not make it.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the source code or models behind the Services, except where that restriction is unenforceable by law.
• Circumvent usage limits, word caps, licensing, device limits, rate limits, or any other technical restriction.
• Resell, sublicense, or provide the Services to third parties as your own service, or share account credentials.
• Use the output of the Services to develop or train a competing speech recognition or language model.
• Interfere with, overload, or disrupt the Services or the infrastructure they run on, including through automated or high-volume access we have not authorized.
• Engage in payment fraud, including unauthorized use of payment methods, illegitimate refund or chargeback claims, or any other method of obtaining the Services without paying the applicable fees.
• Use the Services in violation of applicable export control laws or economic sanctions, or from a jurisdiction subject to comprehensive sanctions.

4. Regulated and Sensitive Information

Lume Voice is a general-purpose dictation tool. It is not certified under HIPAA, PCI DSS, or any comparable framework, and we do not offer a business associate agreement. If you intend to dictate health information, financial account details, government identifiers, legal privileged material, or any other regulated or sensitive category of data, you are responsible for determining whether the Services are appropriate for that purpose in your jurisdiction and for obtaining any consents or authorizations required. Do not submit such data if you are not permitted to.

5. AI Features

The Services use large language models and other AI systems to produce output. In addition to the rules above, you may not use these AI Features to produce content for discriminatory, harassing, harmful, deceptive, or unethical purposes, or to make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about a person without meaningful human review. Output may be inaccurate. You are responsible for reviewing output before you rely on it, publish it, or send it to anyone.

6. Enforcement

Lume Voice is built to keep your dictation private. Your transcription history is stored on your device, and we do not retain the text of your dictation on our servers. That design means we generally do not see what you dictate, and we do not monitor your content looking for violations. We act on what we can see and on what is reported to us.

Where we become aware of a possible violation of this policy, we may investigate, request information from you, restrict or disable features, suspend or terminate your account and any associated licenses, and refuse to provide the Services to you in future. We may do this with or without notice where the violation is serious, ongoing, or unlawful. Where we are required or permitted by law to do so, we may preserve information and report the matter to law enforcement or other competent authorities. Accounts terminated for violating this policy are not eligible for a refund of fees already paid, except where a refund is required by applicable law or by our Refund Policy.

7. Reporting a Violation

If you believe someone is using Lume Voice in breach of this policy, or you want to report content or conduct covered above, email us at hello@lumevoice.com. Please include enough detail for us to identify what you are reporting. We review every report we receive.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the Services change or as legal requirements change. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date above. Material changes will be communicated as described in the Terms of Service. Continuing to use the Services after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
